About

  • SparK is a Sydney-based partnership of five multi-disciplinary artists and arts educators. We work across our varied disciplines individually and collectively to produce work, public programs, educational resources and commissions.

Our programs create meaningful opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities to participate in making, learning, and sharing their stories, through exhibitions, workshops, and place-based engagement across local and regional communities. We have extensive experience designing and delivering engaging, inclusive learning experiences and artistic works across a wide range of contexts: including schools, tertiary institutions, arts institutions, councils, community arts spaces, and public programs.

Pillars of Practice

  • We are guided by the principle: “Not about me, without me.” & “you got to see it to be it” SparK is committed to accessibility and inclusion, centring lived experience in all aspects of our work, from programming to space design and decision-making. We believe that real inclusion is not an afterthought, but a starting point and foundation.

  • Each member of SparK brings a distinct background and artistic focus. Our core strength lies in working at the intersections of these diverse perspectives, actively resisting the siloing that is often typical in the arts sector. Our work is enriched by the knowledge, culture, and lived experiences we share with one another.

  • We are focused on building and sustaining artist-led public programs. These include workshops, exhibitions, talks, and performances that reflect our collective values and engage directly with our communities.

  • IteSparK offers an alternative model for learning and creating and investment in the current and future art communities of Sydney. With its projects such as Alternative Art School, sparK aims to develop alternative art education platforms that exist outside of institutions, and nurture process and experimentation. It is an artist-led, peer-driven approach to development and research. Two of our members are academics, Linsley and Newman. Our projects emerge through art as practice, dialogue, experimentation, and reflection.m description

  • We collaborate across the wider arts community to provide ongoing opportunities for working artists and communities. Our goal is to feed the arts sector at its roots, from the ground up.

  • Our collective is committed to working with clients across different funding models. We have a for profit and not-for-loss model that enables us to service underrepresented groups. Connect with us to find out how you can be involved in our resource strategy.
